Canadians Love the Internet

We have spent a lot of time on the Higher Education Marketing website explaining how important it is for your school to maximize its Web presence and online marketing strategies. If you’re still unconvinced, consider this report from the Globe and Mail.

According to new data from comScore, we Canadians spend more time on the Internet than anyone else on Earth, with 23 million users averaging 43.5 hours online a month. That is nearly twice the global average of 23.1 hours. Eleven nations were surveyed in all, and Canada ranked first in number of website visits per user per month.

The reasons for this ranking is being attributed in part to easy access to high-speed Internet and lousy, soul-destroying weather (we might be making that second one up…but it’s very true).

This report underscores just how essential it is to make sure that you are instituting an analytics driven marketing culture, leveraging online marketing initiatives, and designing and developing usable and user-friendly websites that rank well in search engine results page.  If you’re not, you’ll be missing out on a large percentage of prospective Canadian students: all of them.
