1. Accessing the Courses Module

Courses are managed from the Courses section in the portal navigation.

  1. Log in to HEM-SP as a staff administrator.
  2. From the navigation menu, select Courses.
  3. Review the Courses table to locate an existing course or click Add New to create a new course.

2. Creating a Course

Courses are created using the Add Course wizard. Complete required fields marked with an asterisk (*).

  1. On the Courses page, click Add New.
  2. In Course Title, enter the course name.
  3. In Course Code, enter a unique course code.
  4. Select Campus (required).
  5. Optional: select Program to associate the course with a program.
  6. Complete optional fields such as Weighting, Hours, and Credits as needed.
  7. Select Dates Type (required).
  8. Optional: adjust Calendar Color for scheduling display.
  9. Click Next to continue (or Finish if your configuration allows saving from this step).

3. Creating a Course (Step 2: Custom Properties)

In Custom Properties, complete any additional required fields before saving the course.

  1. On the Custom Properties step, select Course Type (required).
  2. Add default values to existing course associated custom fields (Optional)
  3. Set a Deactivating Date to disable the course after a specific date. (Optional)
  4. Click Finish to create the course.

4. Confirmation and Managing a Course

After creation, HEM-SP displays a success message and opens the course record.

  1. Confirm the success banner indicating the course was created.
  2. Use the tabs (for example, Course Details, Programs, Cohorts, Dates, Grades) to review and maintain related information.
  3. Use Actions to manage the course record, including Edit, Clone, or Delete.
